I have been called a monster and worse, but you may call me Vam. It is true that I keep company with the creatures that cause Man to fear the dark, however, my freedom to do as I wish is limited, as I unwilling share a body with a male human who goes by the moniker “Mockingbard”.

He seems to think of himself as the “host” and me as a possessing spirit or demon. He has even likened me to an illness, which is hurtful to say the least. He believes that our body and mind are his and that I am some sort of interloper. It matters not, as neither of us has absolute control. It is more of a time-share situation.

He planned on making a so-called “weblog” but I took control of our body during setup procedures. I trawled through the vast tome of Wikipedia and consulted the oracle Google. I was surprised to discover that this blogging sensation was in fact some sort of journal accessible to all through dark magic. Bored with my confinement to this body, I claimed the throne of webmaster and began to build what you see before you. Mockingbard took control again before I was done, but his money was spent and he was not about to let it go to waste.

So, here we are. If I am to be trapped in this insipid body that can wield neither spell nor steel, I will pass my time by delving into this dusty dungeon known as “Internet” to share my findings and musings with you, my fearful subjects who will learn to to tremble in terror and enlightenment as you behold my dark insights.

You will come to know more about me as time goes on. Vam’s Saga, my life story, is an epic tale. Remind me to share it with you some time. Even a brief overview would enlighten you considerably.

However, for now, I feel the transition occurring. That which calls itself Mockingbard will soon be upon you. Fear not, it is a tedious beast but hardly deadly. Until next we meet, I am Vam, the thing that goes blog in the night!

Ugh… sorry about Vam. He’s got more problems than I care to think about, seeing as he’s technically my alter ego. It’s kinda a Jekyll and Hyde thing we’ve got going. He thinks my body is his, or at least that he can run off with it and do whatever he likes. It’s gotten me into trouble in the past and his latest stunt of putting his name in the URL instead of mine is just annoying. In fact… that’s all it is: annoying. He hasn’t tried to reanimate anyone or sew the local wildlife together in weeks.

Vam’s misbehaviour has been targeted at this blog ever since he discovered it, and sometimes he takes over for hours on end and when I regain control the only page he’s looked at is Wikipedia. I think the Internet might be good for him (and for the animals). Keeps him off the streets. In light of that, rather than delete his posts, I’m going to keep this site as a place for him to blow off steam. No use in setting up a second site for myself. He’ll just find it and spam me. Instead, I’ll use this one too.

I guess I should say a little about myself, then. I’m twenty-four and recently married. My wife and I are both into roleplaying. Before you ask, I’m talking about tabletop roleplaying. I really enjoy worldbuilding and storytelling. I often get an idea for a world or story and just start working on it. I used to play D&D 3.0/3.5 with some high school friends, but now I run weekly Pathfinder games for my wife and some other friends.

I always have more ideas than I can possibly run, and some are just adventure seeds or characters that I never end up using. I thought this website could be a place to share these ideas and creations as well as the occasional review, opinion of play, recommendation and so on. I’m also into books, video games, movies and television, so expect to see those topics crop up from time to time as well.

So, that’s us: Mockingbard and Vam. I hope my posts are at least somewhat entertaining and get your creative juices flowing. For Vam, I just hope that he doesn’t try to discover the Internet’s truename and ritualistically bind its power or something. Anyway… it should be an interesting year. See you soon.
