On Stagnation, Variety and Square Pegs

It was a good friend of mine who once said “Iron rusts from disuse; water loses its purity from stagnation … even so does inaction sap the vigour of the mind”. Another man said that “Variety’s the very spice of life, That gives it all its flavor”. There is also the one about square pegs and round holes.

It is with these thoughts in mind that I ask you, humans, why do you stagnate so?

Vampires

You humans are fascinated by vampires. You romanticise these creatures of the night. Yet, what do you really know about them? In this article I will gift you unenlightened plebs with a brief glimpse at the full breadth of vampire kind. Perhaps then you will treat them with the terror they deserve.

Why Pyres?

Some of you may be wondering why this font of knowledge I have created is called Pyres of Vam. I hope that you have figured out the “Vam” part of it. I have at least that much faith in humanity. However, I would forgive you for questioning the “Pyres” aspect. I humble and honour you now, by sharing part of my great saga with you, my loyal and subservient followers.

WHAT YOU'VE GOTTEN YOURSELF INTO

Pyres of Vam is run by Mockingbard and his alter-ego(maniac) Vam. It focuses on tabletop roleplaying but you'll find other things here too.

Mockingbard loves roleplaying, worldbuilding and stories. He posts setting ideas, session recaps, gamemastery tips and the like for fun, for himself and to get his creativity on.

Vam posts from the villain's point of view: debunking monster myths, providing adventure ideas for villains, and helping fellow villains and dastardly GMs deck out their lairs and complicate the lives of filthy adventurers.

We write this stuff because we like it :) Hopefully you'll find something you like here too.
